To all interested zoo veterinarians:
As many of you are aware, euthanasia, as a population management tool, has been utilized within zoos for many years around the world. Recently a survey of this practice was given to animal managers (primarily zookeepers, assistant curators and curators (or their equivalent)) by Dr. David Powell and his results were published in Zoo Biology. To follow up, we are now interested in surveying zoo veterinarians as to their knowledge and opinions of this practice within zoos. We are hoping that many of you will be willing to participate in this survey with the results being presented at an upcoming AZA and hopefully an AAZV conference. If you took this survey when it ran previously, please complete it again as some of the questions have changed. Publication of these results is also being considered.
The survey should take between 30-45 minutes. It will only be available for 1 month. Your participation with this voluntary survey is greatly needed and much appreciated. Please click on the link below.
