Long Island Bird & Exotics Veterinary Clinic (LIBEVC) is currently offering a one year veterinary internship commencing summer 2018. Starting date can be somewhat flexible ranging: May 15-July 1st, 2018. We are a new clinic founded in August 2015 and we are growing fast. The clinic is owned by Dr. Malka and we already had our first 2 interns, which may remain as a staff veterinarians. The right intern may be offered a 2 year residency program. Please visit our website for more information about the hospital. The hospital is known for its advanced medicine and surgery, especially endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery. In 2017 we acquired a brand new CT scanner. There are only 3 other exotics only hospitals in the country that have an in-house CT designated for these species and we are very proud to join this group. The intern will have primary care responsibilities for all wildlife. We provide veterinary care for 2 licensed wildlife rescue organizations, and the intern will provide veterinary care to wildlife at the Wild Bird Fund once a week. We are affiliated with a 501 c (3) non-profit organization: Rift Valley Wildlife Clinics (http://www.rvwildlifeclinics.org). Our case load is currently based on more than 50% emergencies. The current species distribution is 40% avian, 40% small mammals, 20% Reptiles/Amph/Fish. We are looking for someone enthusiastic and passionate about avian and exotic animal medicine. Our clients expect state of the art care for their avian and exotic animal companions. A visit to the practice is a pre-requisite to be considered for this position. The hospital is conveniently located just 10 miles outside of NYC (28 minutes by train from Penn Station, Manhattan). If you are a team player with a strong work ethic and a passion for birds, exotics and wildlife and enjoy a fast paced work environment and have an eagerness to learn, please email a cover letter and resume to Dr. Malka at email@example.com.
