Clinical Experience (to be gained during program)
Students will gain experience in clinical zoological medicine including preventative medicine, diagnostics, surgery, and nutrition
Research interests should be discussed during the application process
Brown University, Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University
Students will participate in the daily activities of the veterinary staff during their externship by assisting the veterinary staff in preventative medical procedures, emergency medicine, nutrition, and in maintaining medical records. Students will use ZIMS to maintain medical records. During their externship, students will prepare an in depth presentation or project to be given to veterinary and/or keeper staff on a subject of their choice. Students are also responsible for completing assignments given during the externship.

Positions are filled on a first come, first serve basis
Juniors and Seniors during their clinical rotations. Students are encouraged to schedule the externship late in their clinical year.
No compensation provided
Housing is not provided
Most students will need an automobile. Public transportation is possible depending on where housing is found
Students need to maintain full insurance coverage throughout the program
Personal expenses only
We require a negative TB test within the past 12 months, and proof of rabies vaccination or protective titer within the past 24 months.
