New Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Herpetological Medicine & Surgery
The ARAV Executive Committee and the Editorial Board are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Mark Mitchell to the position of Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Herpetological Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Mitchell replaces Dr. Thomas Boyer, ARAV co-founder and first President of ARAV and Editor-in-Chief of the ARAV Bulletin and later Journal of Herpetological Medicine and Surgery. The ARAV Board and membership extend their heartfelt thanks to Tom for his vision and commitment to the ARAV since 1991.
Dr. Mitchell received his DVM and MS from the University of Illinois and his PhD (Epidemiology) from Louisiana State University. Mark is currently Associate Professor of Veterinary Clinical Medicine in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Illinois. He has a wealth of experience publishing in the veterinary literature and is the co-editor of the Exotic Pet Manual for Veterinarians.
Dr. Mitchell will work hard to expand the number of manuscripts published in the Journal. The quarterly publication schedule will be March, June, September and December. But to meet these objectives we will need your help. Please submit your manuscripts for consideration. Just log on to the ARAV website and click on Manuscript Submissions. Using this electronic format makes it easier to submit manuscripts and to have them reviewed in a timely manner. We will do our best to keep the time from submission to publication to as short a time as possible (on the average 6-9 months.)
To assist Dr. Mitchell in his new role of Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Stephen Divers has been appointed as the new Scientific Editor and Dr. Wilbur Amand has been appointed the Managing Editor. Collectively we hope to expand the submissions and continue to improve the quality of the Journal.
