The primary role of the AAZV Research Committee is to review grant applications and select high quality proposals for funding. Each member will be required to review and evaluate a certain number of grant applications. Additional subject matter experts will be utilized as needed for review of certain specialized topics that may not be represented by the committee.
Committee membership will ensure expertise and representation from: wildlife disease, aquatic animal health, clinical zoological medicine, comparative pathology, epidemiology, anesthesia and reproduction. Ad hoc subject matter experts would include individuals with expertise in genetics, reproduction nutrition, molecular diagnostics, pharmacology, etc. AAZV Research Committee members can submit proposals, but will recuse themselves from evaluation of any proposal for which they are a PI or co-PI.
