Clinical Experience (to be gained during program):
The Belize Wildlife and Referral Clinic (BWRC) www.belizewildlifeclinic.org welcomes prospective externs with a strong interest in conservation and Wildlife Veterinary Medicine. Depending on educational and experience level, externships may range from introductory, to more specialized. As such, externships are available for students ranging from pre-veterinary to veterinary and graduate students (see post graduate educational opportunities posting for more information on positions for graduate veterinarians). Externships are designed for 3rd or 4th year veterinary students conducting clinical rotations in Wildlife & Zoo medicine. Externs have the opportunity to work at the BWRC, and in some cases at partner wildlife centers in Belize.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities vary depending on applicant's qualifications but may include: Patient Intake Diagnostics (X-Ray, Fecals, etc.) Patient Treatment Surgery observation or assistance Patient Care Patient Husbandry Food Preparation Cleaning Client Interaction May attend some wildlife emergency field calls
