International Pangolin Symposium 

 

 The symposium, hosted by the Chicago Zoological Society at the Brookfield Zoo, is bringing  together experts in Asian and African pangolin species, and other interested parties, to explore the diverse array of conservation efforts, including in-situ and ex-situ programs.

 

The symposium is open to pangolin researchers, conservationists, rehabilitators, and animal husbandry specialists to discuss the latest scientific findings, conservation efforts, and pangolin husbandry. Abstract submissions are being accepted until June 1, 2018. We welcome you to submit an abstract highlighting the latest research and conservation work with pangolins.

Pangolin Consortium Conservation Grant

 

The Pangolin Consortium is also pleased to announce the availability of the Pangolin Consortium Conservation Grant. Proposals will be accepted until May 31, 2018. Awards range between $1,000 and $10,000 USD.

 

Areas of Particular Interest

 

Field Research: Pangolin habitat, habitat use, territorial aspects and/or social dynamics, ecology, behavior, nutrition, reproduction, physiology, population sustainability, genetics, human/animal interactions including subsistence use, and cultural interface with human populations.

Professional Care: Husbandry, nutrition, reproductive physiology, preventative health and health care, welfare, sustainability, genetics, development of methodology for improving field research efforts, and improving assay parameters pertaining to all the above.
