Job Description – Post-Doctoral Fellow: Comparative Nutrition
Reports to: Nutritionist, Saint Louis Zoo
The Saint Louis Zoo, in partnership with the University of Missouri, seeks to fill a one year post-doctoral position in Comparative Nutrition. Responsible for conducting training programs at zoos and the university, provide diet evaluations, product recommendations, and assist in development/oversight of collaborative and independent nutrition research projects. Fellow will be exposed to all aspects of a comprehensive Zoo Nutrition program including (but not limited to): commissary management, food safety/handling, quality control, diet records management (assisting with upgrading/management of ZootritionTM software), laboratory analysis, field studies, research, and clinical nutrition issues, and work closely with Animal Management, Veterinary, Education, and other Zoo and University personnel. Will be expected to pursue relevant grant funding opportunities, present and publish scientific data. PhD in nutrition, biochemistry, or related biological sciences required; zoo or wildlife animal experience a plus but not mandatory. Successful candidate should be an independently motivated individual with a high degree of organizational and communications skills, flexible and able to work within a team.
