Clinical Experience (to be gained during program)
Externs will spend 40-45 hours/week in the treatment room working alongside the veterinarians assisting with handling and restraint of many different species of wildlife, admission and physical exams of new patients, recheck and pre-release assessments, fracture immobilization, wound care and management, drug and fluid administration, radiograph interpretation, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, anesthesia induction and monitoring, and physical therapy.
Minimum 2 weeks, no maximum

Student must be vaccinated for rabies and have a current rabies antibody titer on file with us (within the past 2 years) before starting the externship. An UTD Tetanus vaccine is highly recommended
