Zoo & Wildlife Pathology Workshop – 2009      

Co-sponsored by the CL Davis, D.V.M. Foundation

& University of California, Davis, CA


This all day workshop will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2009 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel & Convention Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. 

Featured will be case presentations of classic or new entities of zoo and wildlife species with emphasis on clinico-pathologic correlations.  

The pathology topic this year is the cardiovascular system. The keynote speaker will be Fred J. Clubb, Jr., DVM, PhD, DipACLAM, Professor of Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine, Texas A&M University (TAMU) and Director of Cardiovascular Pathology Research at the Texas Heart Institute in Houston.  He is well known for his expertise on comparative aspects of cardiovascular diseases. 

If you wish to present a case, please email Linda Lowenstine ( and Dick Montali ( with a brief description of the case by July 6, 2009. The cases will be reviewed and 15 cases will be selected for presentation at the Workshop. Those applicants with chosen cases will be notified by email within the following week.    


1. Only 5 H&E slides plus 2 unstained are required. Please limit slides to one piece of tissue with the lesion to facilitate scanning for DVD/Aperio production. Send by August 7, 2009 to:

2. 3. The syllabus from the case writeups should be available after September 15, 2009 and can be downloaded from the CL Davis DVM Foundation website at: A DVD with the histologic case findings and syllabus will be distributed to all presenters and registered attendees.

Cost: $100 ($85 for veterinary students) – full day includes DVD and refreshments. All participants must register for this course.
