Mazuri Grant Sub-committee


The Mazuri Grant sub-committee has historically been composed of a Chair and three members. For final review of proposals, the Chair asks two or three additional AAZV members to participate.

Description of Duties – Chair

Prepare reports for midyear and annual meeting

Communicate committee decisions with Executive Director

Forward relevant information to AAZV’s webmaster to be posted

Communicate with principal investigators

Description of Duties – Members

Review pre-proposals and proposals and make recommendations within given timeline

If needed, participate in conference call to make final determination

Task Timeline - approximate

November – review application process document and make necessary changes

December – post application process on relevant websites (AAZV, NAG)

March – acknowledge receipt of pre-proposals

              verify eligibility of pre-proposals

              send qualified pre-proposals to committee

              prepare midyear report

April – notify authors of committee decision (denial or full proposal)

May – find additional reviewers

June – acknowledge receipt of proposals

            send proposals to committee and two or three additional reviewers

August – collate results of reviews.  If no consensus, work with reviewers to reach consensus

Sep – notify authors of results, get agreement and method of payment and notify Executive Director

          prepare annual report
