Through The Wild Animal Health Fund, AAZV provides important resources to be responsive to animal health studies that have impact on the care and conservation of captive and free-ranging wildlife.

  2. Cutaneous Wound Healing in the Skink and Evaluation of Therapeutic Agents. Primary Investigator: Joanne Paul-Murphy.

  3. Development of Ferritin Assay in Southern Africa and Evaluation of Serum Ferritin in Free-Ranging Black Rhinoceros as a Comparative Tool to Understand Factors Affecting Iron Storage. Primary Investigators: Michele Miller, Peter Buss, Markus Hofmeyr, Francisco Olea-Popelka.

  4. Comparison of Ranaviruses from Reptiles and amphibians in Europe. Primary Investigator: Rachel Marschang.

  5. Validation of Thermographic Imaging for Detection of Subclinical Bumblefoot (pododermatitis) in Penguins. Primary Investigator: Ann Duncan.

  6. Prevalence of Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpesvirus in Captive Breeding Asian Elephants (Elephas maximus) in Nepal. Primary Investigator: Gretchen Kaufman.
